I feel like hypermodernists are the biggest cowards one can come across, simply because of their inability to cope with their reality which is often better than how most people experience the world. Those who are transfixed by the opportunities promised by ultra-advanced technology tend to already have the privilege of what current technology offers but suffers against modern culture or quality of life. Instead of the hypermodernists believing in progress through advocating for better legislation with wide-reaching improvements, they instead fantasize on unrealistic and pseudo-scientific fantasies.
While most people in the world experience less fortunate circumstances forced to face the flawed material reality, they’re able to succeed in coping and enjoying their life. This is while hypermodernists desperately attempt to escape their reality into an artificial world created through technology without thinking about its global material impact. How would these servers be able to support themselves without extracting environmental resources such as fresh water? How many humans would be experimented on that breaks ethical boundaries in order to achieve the cyborg fantasy? Does the pursuit of fantastical possibilities ever justify the amount of suffering in order to replace human flesh with unfeeling metal?
Hypermodernists are obsessed with redefining and entering an immaterial space that has all of the desirable traits of a material environment with none of the drawbacks. They want their own world to have a logic on their own terms, an aesthetic that can be ever changing within a transient space, but never a kind of reliable consistency that the real world has. But an immaterial space is always rooted in a material reality, as both are connected in that the material reality trumps.
Hypermodernists and those who in a state of material privilege use immateriality to justify their existence of being born in more fortunate circumstances, often through advanced social structures and etiquette.
I simply hate those who desire to escape themselves through some of the most fantastical, pseudo-scientific, and hedonistic endeavors that are so self obsessed it barely focuses on the realm of ethics and collateral damages. They have a sense of self loathing that they believe are special for enduring, but in reality to hyperfocus on oneself to such a degree is a reflection of privilege and antisocial behavior. Everyone hates themselves and desires to escape themself and their situation to some degree, but to refuse self acceptance and to chase after a hedonistic escape is what I despise the most.
